OKLAHOMA CITY – Energy FC have signed defender Nicolas Taravel, pending league and federation approval, Head Coach Steve Cooke announced today. Taravel joins OKC from Grenoble Foot 38 of Ligue 2, France’s second division.

A product of Dijon FCO, Taravel also spent time with Dinamo Zagreb II in Croatia and Pafos FC in Cyprus before moving to Grenoble in 2018, where he scored on his Ligue 2 debut.

In addition to his club experience, Taravel made nine appearances for the France U-19 national team and five appearances for the U-20 team.

“We’re thrilled to be able to bring Nico Taravel into the roster”, said Cooke. “Not only is he a left-footed left center back, but he’s also someone who’s played at a very high level in Ligue 2 in France. Nico has the ability to defend very strongly, and he’s also smooth with the ball out of the back, so we think he can help us stop attacks as well as build our own.”

Energy FC begin the 2019 season on the road against expansion club El Paso Locomotive FC Saturday, March 9. The first home match will be against Las Vegas Lights FC Saturday, March 16 at Taft Stadium.
