OKLAHOMA CITY – Energy FC have signed forward Christian Eissele to a contract for the 2019 season, Head Coach Steve Cooke announced today. Eissele spent 2018 with Sacramento Republic FC, where he scored five goals and provided three assists in 25 appearances.

Prior to joining Sacramento, Eissele played for Finnish clubs PS Kemi and FF Jaro and Swedish club IK Brage, where he scored 78 goals and provided 15 assists in 155 appearances. In 2015, he helped PS Kemi win the Ykkönen, the second division of the Finnish football league system.

“When we played against Sacramento last year, we liked his contributions”, said Cooke. “He can hold the ball up, bring others into the game – really be someone who can occupy defenders. But more importantly, he can get into the box and score goals afterwards. With the pace we think we’ve got in wide areas, we think Christian can be a really good player for us in the No. 9 position and someone who ads to the group immensely. All of the feedback on Christian is that he’s a great human being, a wonderful, hard-working player and somebody who not only ads on the field but to the culture we’re trying to build as well.”

Energy FC begin the 2019 season on the road against expansion club El Paso Locomotive FC Saturday, March 9. The first home match will be against Las Vegas Lights FC Saturday, March 16 at Taft Stadium.
