OKLAHOMA CITY – Energy FC have signed forward Omar Gordon from Montego Bay United, pending league and federation approval, Head Coach Steve Cooke announced today. Gordon joins OKC after spending the second half of 2017 and all of 2018 on loan at Western Conference rival San Antonio FC, where he made 24 appearances, scored six goals and provided three assists.

Prior to his loan spell in San Antonio, Gordon spent a season on loan with Indy Eleven, where he helped the club win the 2016 NASL Spring Championship. At Montego Bay United, Gordon scored 37 goals in 128 matches and won two Jamaican National Premier League titles in 2014 and 2016.

In addition to his club experience, the 27-year-old has earned 18 caps with the Jamaican national team and was a key member of the 2017 CONCACAF Gold Cup squad that reached the final against the United States. Gordon featured in all six matches of the tournament for the Reggae Boyz, which included starting and playing 90 minutes in the final in front of 63,000 fans at Levi Stadium in Sana Clara, Calif.

“Having watched him at close quarters playing for San Antonio last year, we always knew he was a threat against us”, said Cooke. “He’s big, he’s strong, he’s powerful and he’s got the pace to get in behind – great 1-v-1 attacking defenders. I think he can contribute goals, assists and really take the game to the other teams.”

Energy FC begin the 2019 season on the road against expansion club El Paso Locomotive FC Saturday, March 9. The first home match will be against Las Vegas Lights FC Saturday, March 16 at Taft Stadium.
