Goalkeepers Cody Laurendi and Bryan Byars and defender Atiba Harris visited Parmelee Elementary and Jefferson Middle School of Oklahoma City Public Schools this week. The players represented the Energy Assist Foundation and gave each school’s soccer team 20 balls.

The donation was fulfilled as a request through Partners in Action, an initiative striving to connect OKCPS with community partners interested in making an impact.

“It’s in our mission to give back to the community”, said Energy Assist Foundation Executive Director Mickey Dollens. “We want to grow the game, and if we can do that by giving the gift of a soccer ball, especially this time of year, we feel we’ve made an impact.”

The Energy Assist Foundation provides underserved youth with soccer equipment and safe places to play through partnerships and organization. Their mission is to make a positive impact in the community with a focus on health, opportunity, and safety through the sport of soccer.

Laurendi will be back with OKC Energy FC for the 2019 season, and he recently signed a new, two-year contract that will keep him at the club through the 2020 season. Harris and Byars are also under contract through 2019.
