Energy FC Trade Matt VanOekel to Birmingham Legion FC

Energy FC have traded goalkeeper Matt VanOekel to Birmingham Legion FC ahead of the 2019 season, General Manager Jason Hawkins announced today.

In 2018, VanOekel appeared in 18 matches, making 52 saves and recording three clean sheets before injury ended his season.

“We appreciate Matt’s time in Oklahoma City with the club and wish him nothing but the best in the future”, said Hawkins.

  • Energy FC wrapped up preseason with a 4-0 win over FC Tucson of USL League One Saturday afternoon in Tucson, Ariz. Jaime Chavez, Ray Saari, Frank Lopez and Arun Basuljevic found the back of the net, while the defense locked things down to keep a clean sheet.
