OKLAHOMA CITY – Energy FC signed forward Deshorn Brown to a contract through the 2019 season, Head Coach Steve Cooke announced today. The signing was completed before the USL's Roster Freeze last Friday, at which time Brown was officially added to the club's roster.

Brown has vast experience playing in the United States, having featured for D.C. United and Tampa Bay Rowdies in 2017. The majority of his career was spent at the Colorado Rapids, where he scored 20 goals in 62 appearances. Brown most recently played for Spanish club Lorca FC.

A native of Manchester, Jamaica, Brown moved to the United States to attend the University of Mobile in Alabama. He transferred to the University of Central Florida after his sophomore year before being drafted by Colorado Rapids as the sixth overall pick in the 2013 MLS SuperDraft. He made his professional debut on March 3, 2013 against FC Dallas and scored his first goal on March 16, 2013 against Real Salt Lake.

Brown has 14 caps and two goals for the Jamaican national team and made his debut on October 11, 2013 against the United States.

“We are delighted to add another player with the attacking quality and experience of Deshorn,” said Cooke.  “He’s a player I’ve been fortunate to work with and know well from the Colorado Rapids. He brings a tremendous ability to score goals and create opportunities in the attack, but just as important is his hardworking attitude, his outstanding character and his positive influence with teammates. We are very excited to have Deshorn and his family with us in OKC for the remainder of 2018 and for the 2019 season.”

Brown could be on the 18-man roster as early as Energy FC’s next match this Sunday at home against Sacramento Republic FC. Kickoff is 6:00 p.m. from Taft Stadium in Oklahoma City, Okla.
