Energy FC came up short at Weidner Field on Saturday night, as second-half goals from Tobenna Uzo and Shane Malcom gave the Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC all three points.

Neither side could find the back of the net in the opening 45 minutes, and chances were few and far between. The best opportunity of the first half came in the 6th minute. Shawn McLaws found Adam Jahn with a quick throw-in over the defense. Jahn cut inside and only had Switchbacks goalkeeper Moise Pouaty to beat. Jahn opted for placement over power and Pouaty reacted well to dive low and make the save.

The Greens started the second half on the front foot and nearly opened the scoring just three minutes after the restart. Philip Rasmussen floated a dangerous free kick into the box, Atiba Harris rose highest to win it, but the defender’s header was denied by the bar.

The home side went ahead in the 74th minute when Jordan Burt's cross from the left wing found Tobenna Uzo at the back post. The substitute headed the ball down, back across goal to give Colorado Springs the lead.

OKC nearly found an equalizer just three minutes later. Alex Dixon found Christian Volesky in the middle of the box, but he wasn't able to cleanly strike the ball and Pouaty made the save.

Just a minute later, Volesky turned provider for Jose Barril. The striker nodded a header into Barril's path to put him through on goal, but the left-footed shot missed the target.

The hosts sealed the points in the 89th minute. Shane Malcolm played a give-and-go with Uzo to put Malcolm one-on-one with Christian Ibeagha. Malcolm was able to get by Ibeagha and slot the ball past Bryan Byars.

Energy FC are back in action on Wednesday for the third and final installment of this season's Black Gold Derby. The Greens travel to Tulsa for a 7:30 p.m. kickoff and will look to take back the wrench that Tulsa won for the first time last season.
