Energy FC signed goalkeeper Cody Laurendi to a contract for the remainder of the 2018 season, Head Coach Steve Cooke announced today.

Laurendi suffered a knee injury at the end of the 2017 season and has been sidelined since then.  He has been training with Energy FC during his rehab and was recently cleared to return to full practice with the club.

“Cody is the consummate professional and has shone through during the process of rehabilitation from injury and his continued training program, said Cooke.  “He is one of the first players at training each day and always gives his very best effort to the team.  As he continues to toward match fitness, we felt Cody was the perfect goalkeeper to add to our roster.”

Cooke continued, “Bryan Byars has worked incredibly hard to seize his opportunity and has performed at a very high standard.  We are confident that our goalkeepers will continue to give the team a great chance to reach our goals for the season.”

Laurendi is the team leader in every major goalkeeping category including wins (18) and shutouts (20).  His two-year mark with the club is 18-18-17.

The Greens return to action Saturday on the road against Sacramento Republic FC at 10 p.m. (ct).  The next home games are July 25 against Fresno FC and July 28 against San Antonio FC.  Kickoff for the home matches is 7:30 p.m.
