OKC Energy FC U23 went out with a win in their last match of the season, as Lewi Evans and Kal Okot got on the scoresheet to give the Greens a 2-1 victory over Corpus Christi FC on Sunday afternoon at Oklahoma City University.

Despite having the better possession and chances in the opening 45 minutes, OKC couldn’t find the goal until stoppage time. Josh Garcia picked out Vlad Jandric in the box, and the midfielder’s shot was parried by Corpus Christi goalkeeper Marco Uelez right into the path of Evans. The striker tapped the ball into the open net, and he’ll likely never score an easier goal in his career.

The lead was short-lived, however, as Corpus Christi came down the pitch right after the kickoff and leveled the score through Grant Mobley thanks to some good work by Gabriel Quesada down the right side.

Chances in the second half were few and far between, but the Greens took advantage of one in the 65th minute. Garcia, after some fancy footwork to get free, found Okot streaking into the box. Okot took the ball in stride to go one on one with Uelez and chipped the ball over the onrushing keeper.

OKC locked things down on the defensive end for the final 25 minutes to preserve the lead and win the final match of 2018. With the win, the U23s very likely qualify for the 2019 Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup.
