TAMPA, Fla. – Phoenix Rising FC forward Jason Johnson has been voted the USL Player of the Week for Week 14 of the 2018 season. Johnson recorded three goals in two games, including a spectacular finish that drew worldwide attention this past Saturday night, as Phoenix swept to a pair of victories that moved the side within three points of Western Conference-leader Real Monarchs SLC.
Johnson received 48 percent of the poll conducted by a national panel of independent media representing every USL market. Real Monarchs SLC’s Chandler Hoffman and San Antonio FC’s Diego Restrepo finished tied for second with 17 percent apiece.
GK – Diego Restrepo, San Antonio FC: Restrepo recorded a nine-save shutout – tied for the most saves in a game this season – as SAFC claimed a 1-0 victory against Sacramento Republic FC on Saturday night.
D – Kevin Venegas, Indy Eleven: Venegas had a goal and assist, as Indy swept to a 3-1 victory against Toronto FC II to move into the top eight in the Eastern Conference.
D – Bradley Bourgeois, Nashville SC: Bourgeois won 19 of 23 total duels and provided the assist on Nashville’s stoppage-time game-winner against North Carolina FC on Saturday night.
D – Justin Schmidt, Sacramento Republic FC: Schmidt completed 116 of 125 passes across two games and recorded four interceptions and seven clearances, as Republic FC conceded only once in 180 minutes.
M – Steven Miller, North Carolina FC: Miller had a goal and assist, as North Carolina claimed a 4-2 win against Ottawa Fury FC last Wednesday night.
M – Derrick Jones, Bethlehem Steel FC: Jones scored Steel FC’s opening goal in a 2-2 draw with FC Cincinnati and recorded three tackles, three interceptions and won 11 of 15 duels over the contest.
M – Emmanuel Ledesma, FC Cincinnati: Ledesma scored a pair of goals to lead Cincinnati to a 4-0 victory against the Richmond Kickers on Saturday night at Nippert Stadium.
M – Jordan Burt, Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC: Burt scored twice in four minutes to turn the Switchbacks’ clash with Portland the way of the visitors in a 4-1 win at Merlo Field.
F – Jaime Siaj, OKC Energy FC: Siaj scored a goal in each game, as Energy FC took victories against the Portland Timbers 2 and Rio Grande Valley FC for its first back-to-back wins this season.
F – Jason Johnson, Phoenix Rising FC: Johnson scored three goals in two Rising FC victories including a spectacular volleyed strike in the club’s 3-0 win against Tulsa Roughnecks FC on Saturday.
F – Chandler Hoffman, Real Monarchs SLC: Hoffman scored three goals in two games on the Monarchs’ road trip to the Midwest, including the game-winner in Saturday’s victory against Saint Louis FC.
