Energy FC forward Jaime Siaj has earned a call up by Jordan’s National Team, Head Coach Steve Cooke announced today.

Siaj, a 22-year old from Madrid, Spain is expected to play in two of the country’s friendly matches on May 20 against Cyprus in Amman, Jordan and May 26 against China.

“I’m really looking forward to playing on this stage.  I’m thankful to the players and coaching staff for supporting me on this trip because I know it’s a tough time for the team,” said Siaj.  “I think it’s a good step for my career. I look forward to representing my roots and hope I have a good trip with them and enjoy the time there.”

This is the first call up of his career.  He is eligible to represent the country because of his father’s Jordanian heritage. With Energy FC this season, Siaj has appeared in eight matches, played 378 minutes and scored one goal.

“We are delighted that Jaime has the opportunity to represent our club and our city playing for Jordan the international stage,” said Cooke.  “While we will miss his presence and contributions on and off the field, there is no doubt that playing for your country is an incredible honor and an achievement that Jaime has fully deserved.  We wish both Jaime and the Jordan National team all the best for their upcoming matches..”

The call up to the national team for Siaj brings the number of players that have represented a country in international play while a member of Energy FC to three.  He joins Coy Craft (U.S. U-20 team) and Cody Laurendi (Puerto Rico) as players with that designation.

Energy FC’s next match is May 16 against NTX Rayados in the second round of the 2018 Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup.  The next regular season match is May 19 at home against the Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC at 7 p.m.
