Bryan Byars returns to Energy FC

Energy FC announced today the signing of goalkeeper Bryan Byars to a contract for the 2018 season, pending league and federation approval. 

Last season, Byars played in seven matches for Tulsa Roughnecks FC, posted one clean sheet and .625 save percentage.  Byars has professional experience with Rayo OKC (2016) and Energy FC (2015). 

Prior to playing professionally, Byars played four seasons at USAO in Chickasha and owns the school records for career wins (46) and shutouts (31).  Before his collegiate career, he was a four-year starter at Putnam City North High School. Accolades earned during his high school career include Oklahoma State Player of the Year in 2007, All District in 2008, ’09 and ’10 and was a Gatorade National Player of the Year nominee in 2008. 

“Having Bryan Byars as a member of Energy FC is big for us in many areas,” said Energy FC Head Coach Steve Cooke.  “He has immense talent, he has proven that he can play at our level and he has chosen to stay close to home and play with the local professional team.  Bryan is an important part of our continued growth as we build our roster for 2018 and beyond.”

The addition of Byars gives Energy FC 15 players officially signed and under contract for the 2018 season including: forwards Miguel Gonzalez, Jose Angulo and Jonathan Brown; midfielders Juan Pablo Guzman, Jose Barril, Philip Rasmussen, Callum Ross and Alex Dixon as well as defenders Kyle Hyland, Richard Dixon, Shawn McLaws, Christian Ibeagha and Coady Andrews and goalkeeper Matt Van Oekel.
