Back to school time is nearly always stressful for everyone involved.  Kids starting a new grade, maybe at a new school.  Teachers and administrators possibly doing the same.  The opportunity for stress exists for everyone.

Making an effort to alleviate that stress, Energy FC hosted a “Back to School Cookout” at Taft Stadium.  The event for Taft Middle School students and their families gave them a chance to enjoy a hot dog, water and drink and play soccer on the pitch at Taft Stadium.  The turnout was fantastic and once the food had been eaten, the attention was turned to the field.

On hand to cook the hot dogs were President of Prodigal Jeff Ewing, Energy FC co-owners Bob Funk Jr. and Tim McLaughlin and Oklahoma City Public Schools Superintendent Aurora Lora.

“It’s really wonderful for us (OKCPS) to have partners like Energy FC.  Not only do a portion of the tickets sales go to help Fields & Futures, but also part of the proceeds from the concession stands go to help the district.” said Lora.  “And things like this are fun because it gives our families a chance to come out to be part of the community and be partners with everyone.”

Energy FC is proud to be neighbors and partners with the OKCPS, the students, teachers and administrators from Taft Middle School and the surrounding neighborhood.

“I think today is special because we have a lot of kids that are out here and excited.  Kids here love soccer.  For them to be out enjoying the field, being able to see people from Energy FC here, it’s an exciting event for everyone.”

The club anticipates the success of this event will lead to others in seasons to come.
