After spending a little over three weeks working Gold Cup 2017 in different stadiums, I finally get to be in my office with my pleasant people-stalking view towards Hudson Ave.
Before I start dealing with post-Gold Cup depression, here are a couple of perks I enjoyed about this amazing journey.
Six different venues:
San Diego, Denver, San Antonio, Phoenix, Pasadena, Santa Clara.
Heavy media presence, especially for Mexico
Saw the US lift the Gold Cup trophy
I even got to meet FIFA president Gianni Infantino
Pretty nice, indeed. Yet, what I take away the most is the growing passion of the sport from fans and those who work with the organization.
Seeing the hardwork that every single individual involved in the tournament to get the best product out on the pitch was extremely inspiring.
And in Oklahoma City, we are not that far off.
As I draw a parallel line with the stuff we do at Energy FC, we strive to get the best of the best out there and provide the best fan experience for our community.
Last but not least, seeing fans from neighboring countries was a refreshing reminder that one language (futbol) can bring two cultures together to celebrate the sport.
