MOORE, Okla. — Four different players scored in the second half for OKC Energy FC, who downed the Houston Baptist University Huskies, 5-0, in a preseason match Saturday at Moore High School.
Goals by Miguel Gonzalez, Jose Barril, Luis Martinez and Danni König, along with a Houston Baptist own goal, led OKC to the fifth win of its 2017 preseason campaign and an overall record of 5-1-1.
In the 48th minute, OKC took the 1-0 lead when Wojciech Wojcik found Miguel Gonzalez on the left side of the HBU box, where Gonzalez maneuvered around a defender and rolled shot into the open side of the Huskies net.
Twenty minutes later, Martinez grabbed a loose ball at the top of the Huskies box and blasted a shot past HBU keeper Chance Pope to increase the Energy FC lead to 2-0.
A handball in the Houston Baptist box led to a penalty kick for OKC in the 79th minute, which Jose Barril converted, making it a 3-0 game.
Three minutes later, Danni König netted his first goal of the 2017 preseason to increase OKC’s lead to 4-0.
In the final minute of play, Martinez sent a cross into the HBU box from the left corner that glanced off Huskies defender Felipe Zanolli and past Pope, making it 5-0 OKC.
Energy FC’s final preseason match is a noon CST start on Saturday, March 18, at Oklahoma City University, with OKC taking on the University of Nebraska Omaha.
