Mickey Daly joins Energy FC for 2017 season

Won USL Cup with Sacramento in 2014 season

Energy FC signed center back Michael “Mickey” Daly, head coach Jimmy Nielsen announced today.  The contract is pending USL and U.S. Soccer Federation approval.

Daly split time last season between the Bethlehem Steel FC (USL) and Carolina RailHawks (NASL).  He appeared in 34 games between the two clubs, scored one goal and logged 2,733 minutes. 

Prior to his stint with Bethlehem and Carolina, he played two full seasons with Sacramento Republic FC where he appeared in 66 games and scored six goals.  He was a member of the Sacramento Republic FC squad that captured the 2014 USL Cup.  He began his professional career in 2013 with the Wilmington Hammerheads.  In all, he’s played in 104 games as a pro and scored seven goals.

Following a successful collegiate career at California State University – Los Angeles, he played two seasons with the Ventura County Fusion (PDL) where he scored three goals in 30 matches.

“Mickey is a player we’ve had our eyes on for the last couple of seasons,” said Nielsen. “He has all the skills to be a great center back.  Good person.  Good leader in the locker room.  Due to his successes in the past, he has a winning mentality that will make him a good fit for our club.  With the addition of Daly, we have three top quality center backs.”

Daly joins forwards Wojciech Wojcik, Miguel Gonzalez, Danni König; midfielders Luis Martinez, Daniel Gonzalez, Alejandro Covarrubias, Alex Dixon, Juan Guzman and Philip Rasmussen; defenders Sam Fink, Kyle Hyland, Richard Dixon, Michael Harris, David Diosa and Coady Andrews and goalkeepers Cody Laurendi, C.J. Cochran and Jacob Lissek as players officially signed for the 2017 season.
