Energy FC suffered their most lopsided defeat of the season with a 4-0 loss to Portland Timbers FC 2 at Merlo Field on the campus of the University of Portland.  Timbers FC forward Villyan Bijev scored twice to lead T2.

Early in the first half, Energy FC was able to control the pace of play.  Linus Olsson had the best opportunity in the 25th minute when his close-range shot was kept out by Timbers FC2 defenders. 

Portland Timbers FC2 took a lead they would not relinquish on a converted penalty kick in the 34th minute.  Two Energy FC defenders got tangled up with Timbers FC2 forward Andre Lewis in the box, resulting in penalty kick.  Forward Villyan Bijev converted to give Portland the 1-0 lead.

T2 wasted no time adding to their lead in the second half when Bijev scored his second of the night in the 46th minute.  After an Energy FC turnover, Portland turned on a counter attack with Victor Arboleda threading a pass to Bijev down the left side.  Energy FC goalkeeper Cody Laurendi came out to challenge, but Bijev was able to shoot it past the Energy FC keeper.

Portland was able to control the pace of play for much of the second half and was able to convert on a pair of opportunities just three minutes apart.  In the 71st minute, Timbers FC2 forward Blake Bodily worked his way down the left side of the field and found his way behind the Energy FC defenders.  He controlled the ball, got into position and kicked one to the wide side of Laurendi.

Just three minutes later in the 74th minute, T2 was awarded their second penalty kick of the match.  Although the original shot by Augustine Williams was stopped by Laurendi, the T2 forward followed his shot, found the rebound and put it behind Laurendi.

The loss for Energy FC keeps them in 5th place in the in the Western Conference table.  Energy FC has a game in hand on two of the four teams ahead of them in the standings with three of their last four matches to be played in Oklahoma City.
