ST. LOUIS — For the fourth time in four total meetings between the two clubs, OKC Energy FC and Saint Louis FC finished with a 1-1 draw Wednesday night at World Wide Technology Soccer Park.
Daniel Gonzalez scored the equalizing goal for Energy FC in the 58th minute. After being tripped up in the St. Louis defensive third, Gonzalez pursued the loose ball and fired a shot from nearly 25 yards out that rolled past diving Saint Louis FC keeper Mark Pais. The goal was Gonzalez's third of year.
Saint Louis FC grabbed the 1-0 lead in the 20th minute. After a diving save by Energy FC keeper C.J. Cochran on a header on goal from St. Louis' Tyler David, Schilo Tshuma grabbed the loose ball in the OKC box and sent a shot into the vacated Energy FC net.
The two clubs have now met a total of four times in USL play dating back to the 2015 season, with all four matches resulting in a draw. The teams also met in a 2016 preseason match in Springfield, Mo., where the result was a 0-0 draw.
The draw was Energy FC's 11th of the season, moving OKC into a third place tie in the USL Western Conference with Vancouver Whitecaps FC 2.
Energy FC next travels to Portland, Ore., where the club will face the Portland Timbers 2 in a 9:00 p.m. CDT start on Sunday, Sept. 4 at Merlo Field.
