Energy FC welcomes two new players for the remainder of the 2016 season

OKLAHOMA CITY – Energy FC has signed two new players for the remainder of the 2016 season, the club’s front office announced today. Swedish forward Linus Olsson was added to the roster, and former OKC Energy U23 defender Devante DuBose was called up and given a contract with Energy FC as well.

After a successful season with PDL squad OKC Energy U23, DuBose was called up to the USL. The California native graduated from Virginia Tech in 2013, and was named the fastest player in college soccer. DuBose played all 14 games with OKC Energy U23, recording more than 900 minutes. Devante DuBose is the first OKC Energy U23 player to sign a contract with the first team.

Devante had an excellent summer with our U23 team and showed a lot of pro qualities. He has a good attitude and worked hard for this opportunity,” OKC Energy U23 Head Coach Chris Spendlove said. “I'm happy to see him become our first player to make the jump from the PDL to the first team and, hopefully, he will be one of many as we move forward.”

Linus Olsson comes to Energy FC from Swedish side Akademisk Baldklub, where he netted 10 goals and recorded a total of 2867 minutes from 2013-2015.

“Linus is a great signing for our last push for the playoffs,” said Energy FC Head Coach Jimmy Nielsen. “He has some individual qualities that can help the team; he is very technical, has good speed, and has a good nose for goals.”

The striker played for Trellebord in 2013, where he netted 10 goals while playing more than 2,000 minutes on the pitch. Olsson also played for Swedish professional team Landskrona from 2010-2012.

“Linus provides us with another versatile option as someone who can play wide or up the middle of the park,” Energy FC General Manager Jason Hawkins said. “He’s an athletic player with great technical abilities as well.  We look forward to having him as another attacking option on our roster.”

Energy FC hosts LA Galaxy ll in a regular season match at historic Taft Stadium in the heart of Oklahoma City on August 13 at 7 p.m. Tickets are available by contacting the Energy office at 235-KICK or visiting energyfc.com.
