OKLAHOMA CITY – OKC Energy FC has acquired midfielder Jose Cuevas on loan from Arizona United SC, Energy FC General Manager Jason Hawkins announced today.

Cuevas comes to Energy FC from Arizona United SC, where he appeared in a total of 23 matches from 2015-present, scoring three goals and collecting two assists. Prior to his time with Arizona United SC, Cuevas appeared in 13 matches for Charleston Battery in 2014, scoring three goals and notching four assists. Similarly, he scored three goals with seven assists in the 11 matches he appeared in with PDL side Fresno Fuego in 2014.

"I'm really excited. I'm ready for the season and I know good things are going to come if I work my butt off all I can and give OKC 110 percent," Cuevas said. "Personally, I don't want anything less, and I know the team doesn't want anything less (than a championship), so I'm going to work as much as I can for it and I know the coaches believe in me."

Jose ‘Chiva’ Cuevas had a strong start to his professional career, paving the way for success later in his career. While playing for Charleston Battery in 2012-2013, Cuevas appeared in 47 matches, scoring 11 goals and having the same number of assists. He was named 2012 USL PRO Rookie of the Year, was selected to be on the 2012 USL PRO All-League First Team, and was named MVP of the 2012 USL PRO Championship match.

“Jose is a player that we’ve had our eye on since the first time we played against him,” Energy FC General Manager Jason Hawkins said.  “In our head-to-head matches, he was always dynamic…Jimmy and I always thought he would fit in well here in OKC.  We are glad he is in our camp and look forward to him playing as early as tomorrow’s match.”

Energy FC will host Saint Louis FC in their second regular season match of 2016 at historic Taft Stadium in Oklahoma City on April 9. Season Seat Holders tickets are available by contacting the Energy office at 235-KICK or visiting energyfc.com.
