OKLAHOMA CITY – OKC Energy FC will host the second Sidekicks event of 2016 on Wednesday, June 22 at the Express Clydesdale Barn at 12701 W. Wilshire in Yukon from 6 – 8:30 p.m.
During the event families come together to eat barbecue on a beautiful landscape, play lawn games, enjoy the photo booth, and participate in a Clydesdale Q&A session.
“It has been another exciting year in the Sidekicks program watching the relationships of the players and their Sidekicks evolve since the signing,” General Manager Jason Hawkins said. “You can see the Sidekicks and their families light up each time they get to spend time with their players, both at the field and away from it. This event is another great chance for them to spend quality time together.”
At the first Sidekicks event, each of the Sidekicks met their mentor and signed an Energy FC contract for the 2016 season. They each received a personalized jersey during a special presentation at SoccerCity. Dinner was provided, and there was a plethora of soccer-related activities, such as soccer billiards, bocce ball, and high intensity soccer.
The Sidekicks program aims to give athletes an opportunity to build lasting friendships with Energy FC players, as well as be involved in the soccer community in a fun and unique way. Eighteen athletes from Special Olympics Oklahoma, Autism Oklahoma, Down Syndrome Association of Central Oklahoma, and TOPSoccer have been selected to participate in this year’s program.
Energy FC will host Vancouver Whitecaps FC 2 in a regular season match at historic Taft Stadium in Oklahoma City on June 25. Season Seat Holders tickets are available by contacting the Energy office at 235-KICK or visiting energyfc.com.
