OKLAHOMA CITY – OKC Energy FC took a 3-1 victory in a preseason clash against the University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma on Saturday afternoon at Taft Stadium. Tucker Stephenson, Aidan Daniels and Villyan Bijev each found the net for the hosts in their final preseason outing before kicking off the 2021 USL Championship regular season next weekend.

After going behind early, Energy FC responded to control the game for the remainder of the first half. Shortly before the halftime break, Stephenson found the equalizer as he finished into the left corner of the net from the top of the penalty area after a cross by Jon Brown.

Changes in the second half resulted in Daniels and Bijev both seeing action and both getting on the scoresheet. With just over 15 minutes to go, Daniels took advantage of a turnover in midfield which allowed him to drive forward and unleash a shot that smacked off the inside of the post and in the back of the net to give the Greens the lead.

Bijev then sealed the victory late on after a passing sequence between Brown and a trialist put Bijev through on goal, who then calmly slotted past the USAO goalkeeper.

Energy FC will open its 2021 season next Saturday night as it plays host to in-state rival FC Tulsa at Taft Stadium. Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m. CT.
