John Pascarella is looking to capitalize on the lower-league standout who has flown under the radar.

OKLAHOMA CITY – Energy FC has signed winger Groutchov Pierre, pending league and federation approval, Head Coach John Pascarella announced today. Pierre most recently played for Dragon City FC of the United Premier Soccer League.

“He’s a kid that we saw and liked at a number of combines this offseason, so we’ve been tracking him,” said Pascarella. “He’s got good athleticism, good pace, is good on the ball, a natural lefty and a guy that I think will help us create a little more in attack this year.

“[Assistant Coach] Leigh Veidman saw him initially, really liked him and called me. I started doing some digging to see where he had been because he’s one of those kids who’s flown under the radar. He has an interesting story, and we are happy to have him.”

A 25-year-old native of Leogane, Haiti, Pierre helped Dragon City to first place in the UPSL’s Florida Division for the 2020 Fall Season. After representing Haiti at the U-17 national team level, Pierre moved to the United States to attend Florida College, where he was a three-time NAIA First Team All American.

Pierre joins goalkeepers CJ Cochran and Kyle Ihn, defenders Zach Ellis-Hayden, Atiba Harris and Mitch Osmond, midfielders Arun Basuljevic, Brad Dunwell and Seth Moses, and forwards Jaime Chavez, Frank Lopez and Tucker Stephenson as the players currently under contract for OKC in 2021.

Energy FC begins its eighth season in 2021 with a schedule announcement forthcoming. More information regarding Season Seat Memberships and Group Experiences can be found at energyfc.com/tickets.
