El Paso adds Apodaca to forward contingent; Energy FC signs midfielder Seth Moses

IRVINE, Calif. – Orange County SC announced on Tuesday the club had signed 2019 USL League One Golden Boot-winner Ronaldo Damus, pending league and federation approval. Damus is the sixth offseason addition for OCSC and will join the club ahead of the 2021 Championship campaign.

“We are delighted to add Ronaldo, one of the top young forwards in the USL to our roster,” said OCSC President of Soccer Operations, Oliver Wyss. “Ronaldo is a real talent with a bright future ahead of him and he will continue to develop in our professional environment. We are looking forward to showcasing him in Orange County and preparing him for his goal to play on the highest level in Europe.”

Damus had five goals and two assists in 13 appearances for North Texas SC in USL League One during the shortened 2020 season, his second year with the club. In his first season, Damus averaged a goal every 97.3 minutes as he scored 16 goals in 20 regular-season contests to claim the Golden Boot. Damus was also ranked number one on the 2019 USL 20 Under 20 list and was named to the League One All-League First Team.

Before signing with North Texas SC in January of 2019, Damus joined the FC Dallas U-19 Academy team halfway through the 2017-2018 season, where he scored 12 goals in 13 matches.

The 21-year-old is an established Haitian international player who made his senior debut when he was 16 years old against Costa Rica in a 2018 FIFA World Cup Qualifier. Prior to his call up to the senior team, he was regularly featured on Haiti’s U-20 national squad, where he made eight appearances.

Locomotive FC Adds Aidan Apodaca to Attacking Options

El Paso Locomotive FC announced on Tuesday it had signed forward Aidan Apodaca for the 2021 USL Championship season, pending league and federation approval.

“Aidan is a player that caught our eye over a year ago,” said Head Coach and Technical Director Mark Lowry. “His pace, enthusiasm for running and constantly harassing defenders makes him a dream player for our system. His goals per minute ratio is one of the best in the USL over the past two seasons, and his age means his room for growth is an exciting prospect. I expect him to fit in seamlessly with our demands and the spirit of the group. “

Apodaca joins Locomotive FC with three years of experience in the Championship having made 16 appearances with Bethlehem Steel in 2018 and 25 appearances across two seasons with Reno 1868 FC. The Upland, California native had a hand in lifting Reno to the top of the USL Championship with three goals over 11 appearances in 2020. Boasting a goal per minute average of 72.7 minutes and shooting accuracy of 87.5% in 2020, the 24-year-old has the qualities to provide an exciting, yet dangerous, element to the Locomotive attack.

“I’m super excited,” said Apodaca. “Seeing the success that Locomotive has had over the past two years in the league, it’s been amazing. To be a part of that team and culture while building on what has already been laid, I’m looking forward to helping bring a trophy to El Paso.”

OKC Signs Seth Moses to Boost Midfield Corps

OKC Energy FC announced on Tuesday it had signed veteran USL Championship midfielder Seth Moses, pending league and federation approval. Moses made 11 appearances for Las Vegas Lights FC in the 2020 Championship season and finished first on the team in passing accuracy at 84.7 percent.

“Seth is a guy we tried to sign this time last year,” said Energy FC Head Coach John Pascarella. “When I took over the team, he was one of our targets in central midfield. We offered him a contract, and while he had it sitting in front of him, he broke his foot. Kudos to him, because he called us immediately, which kept us from executing that contract. He got healthy again and played for Vegas last year, and we could see that he would make us better in that part of the field.

“Seth is a classic number eight in my opinion. He’s a guy that plays box-to-box. He’s good on the ball, he can link the lines, and he’s also physically an animal.”

Prior to Moses’ time in Vegas, the 27-year-old played in a combined 61 matches with Championship clubs Fresno FC, Indy Eleven and Orange County SC. Additionally, he played overseas for Rheindorf Altach of the Austrian Bundesliga, USV Eschen/Mauren of the Swiss Football League and South Korea’s FC Anyang.
