Jaime Chavez scored his fifth goal of the preseason to help the Greens earn a 1-1 draw against Sporting Kansas City II of the USL Championship Eastern Conference Saturday afternoon in Wichita, Kan.

Chavez gave OKC the early lead with a header from a Tucker Stephenson corner kick in the fourth minute. Chavez towered above the SKC defense to nod Stephenson's inswinging set piece over the defender standing on the goal line and into the back of the net.

The Greens put on a dominate display for the remainder of the opening 45 minutes, creating chance after chance, but near misses and a few good saves prevented OKC from taking more than a 1-0 lead into halftime.

The second half saw Energy FC create several more opportunities, while Sporting were held to minimal chances throughout the match.

Goalkeepers C.J. Cochran and Cody Laurendi were called upon on only a few occasions, but unfortunately, SKC was able to convert on one of them.

A foul in the penalty area in the 84th minute resulted in a penalty kick for Sporting, which was struck into the side netting to level the score.

The Greens will head to Tucson, Ariz. this week for warm-weather training and a trio of matches, two of which will be against USL Championship Western Conference rivals. OKC takes on New Mexico United on February 23 and El Paso Locomotive on February 26. They'll finish up the preseason against Grand Canyon University on February 29.

Energy FC begins the 2020 USL Championship season at Taft Stadium March 7 at 7 p.m. against Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC. Season seats for the 2020 season are on sale now. Visit https://www.energyfc.com/tickets or call 235-KICK for more information.
