OKLAHOMA CITY – Energy FC has signed midfielder Brad Dunwell, pending league and federation approval, Head Coach John Pascarella announced today. Dunwell joins OKC after spending the 2019 season with Rio Grande Valley FC Toros of the USL Championship.

“Brad is a kid I scouted when I was with Minnesota,” said Pascarella. “He’s a versatile central midfielder and is most comfortable as a deep-lying playmaker. He’s very, very good on the ball, and he has a bright future ahead of him.”

Dunwell, a 22-year-old defensive midfielder from Grand Rapids, Mich., made seven appearances for RGV in 2019, completing 85.9% of his passes in league play.

During his four-year playing career at Wake Forest University, Dunwell also made 37 appearances for USL League Two side Michigan Bucks. Dunwell was selected 56th overall in the 2019 MLS SuperDraft by Houston Dynamo before signing with the Dynamo’s USL Championship affiliate, Rio Grande Valley FC.

Dunwell is the 16th player under contract for the 2020 season on a roster that includes:

Goalkeepers (2): CJ Cochran, Cody Laurendi

Defenders (5): Joe Amico, Zachary Ellis-Hayden, Atiba Harris, Kyle Hyland, Nicolas Taravel

Midfielders (6): Arun Basuljevic, Jonathan Brown, Brad Dunwell, Rafael Garcia, Jose Hernandez, Kodai Iida

Forwards (3): Cordell Cato, Jaime Chavez, Omar Gordon
