Week 31 Recap

Energy FC return to Taft Stadium for the final home match of the 2019 season. Last week’s 2-0 loss away to Orange County SC leaves the Greens with an uphill battle to make the postseason. With two matches remaining, OKC sits in 14th, four points behind 10th place New Mexico United for the final playoff spot.

Despite the loss, Cody Laurendi eclipsed the 100-save mark to bring his league-leading total to 101.

Week 32 Preview

Next is a matchup with Rio Grande Valley FC Toros. Already eliminated from playoff contention, RGV have nothing to play for other than pride and will be looking to do the double over OKC this season.

The teams met at H-E-B Park on April 13 with RGV taking the points in a 2-1 win. Atiba Harris was OKC’s goalscorer on the day while Michael Salazar and Jesus Enriquez’ goals helped give the hosts the win.

Salazar and Carlos Small lead RGV with 10 goals, while Isidro Martinez has provided a team-leading seven assists.

This will be the eighth meeting in a rivalry that dates back to 2016 with RGV holding a 2-3-2 edge in the all-time series.

The Greens will miss Alvin Jones, Je-Vaughn Watson and Mekeil Williams, after the trio were called up to represent their national teams in the Concacaf Nations League. Kyle Hyland will also miss the match after being sent off against Orange County.

Both Rafael Garcia and Callum Ross are available for selection after recovering from knee surgery and a one-match suspension, respectively.

Deshorn Brown leads OKC with 14 goals, and Omar Gordon has the most assists with seven.

Table Talk

A six-match winless run means the Greens will have to win the remaining two matches and get some major help from other matches.

Sunday’s match kicks off from Taft Stadium at 6 p.m. CDT and will be streamed live. As always, tickets are available at energyfc.com/october or by calling 235-KICK.
