Orange County SC took advantage of an unusual sending off for Kyle Hyland to win 2-0 in Irvine, Calif. Saturday night.

Michael Seaton came close to opening the scoring for the hosts with a pair of headers that just missed wide of the post in the 7th and 39th minutes.

Darwin Jones might have given OC the lead at halftime when the midfielder was through on goal after receiving a long ball over the top. Cody Laurendi stood tall to make the stop and keep the scores level.

The Greens were reduced to 10 men just before the halftime whistle, after Kyle Hyland was issued a second yellow card for a challenge in the air in the 43rd minute. The first caution came under unusual circumstances when Hyland was booked for returning to the field of play too early after receiving treatment for a head injury in the 25th minute.

In the 53rd minute, Orange County took the lead through Harry Forrester. After creating some space at the top of the penalty area, Forrester bent a shot with the outside of his foot into the far post side netting, leaving Laurendi with no chance to make the save.

OC doubled the lead and effectively sealed the points in the 75th minute. Seaton found Joe Amico in the penalty area between the OKC defense, and Amico was able to roll his shot past Laurendi.

Energy FC return to Taft Stadium for the final home match of the season next Sunday, October 13 at 6 p.m. against Rio Grande Valley Toros FC.
