Energy FC and Sacramento Republic FC battle to a hard-fought, scoreless draw at Taft Stadium Saturday night.

Cody Laurendi was the star of the first half and was tested often, beginning in the sixth minute by Juan Barahona. Barahona’s volley from outside the penalty area look destined for the side netting, but Laurendi was able to palm it away.

Thomas Enevoldsen nearly put the visitors ahead in the 20th minute, but his header from six yards out was tipped over the bar by Laurendi.

Laurendi came up big again in the 63rd minute, stopping Villyan Bijev’s drive from a tight angle.

The Greens came close to finding a winner in the 86th minute when Deshorn Brown’s cross from the right wing just missed the outstretched legs of Christian Eissele, after the striker made a great run to get open in front of goal.

Energy FC travel to Los Angeles to take on the Galaxy II next Saturday, September 28. Kickoff for that fixture is set for 9 p.m CDT.
