Week 24 Recap

Energy FC (8th, 8-8-9, 33 points) return home after a come-from-behind, 4-2 win against the Portland Timbers 2 at Providence Park in Week 24. Christian Eissele scored a brace to earn USL Championship Team of the Week honors, while Mekeil Williams and Christian Ibeagha added their first goals of the season. The win also marked the first time in club history OKC has overturned a halftime deficit to claim all three points.

Week 25 Preview

The Greens take on Austin Bold FC (4th, 10-8-6, 36 points) for the first time at Taft Stadium Saturday night. The expansion club defeated Energy FC 2-1 at Bold Stadium on May 10. That night, Deshorn Brown scored the opening goal before Bold FC grabbed two second-half goals to steal the points.

In addition to avenging that loss, Energy FC will be looking to pick up three points at Taft Stadium for the first time since the 1-0 win over Colorado Springs on May 25.

Austin is coming off a 5-1 home thrashing over Tulsa Roughnecks FC. Former Energy FC loanee Ema Twumasi, Andrew Lima, Kleber Giacomazzi and Sonny Guadarrama got on the scoresheet, with Kleber scoring twice and adding an assist to land a spot on the USL Championship Team of the Week alongside Eissele.

OKC will be without Josh Garcia after the midfielder was called up to the Dominican Republic national team for a friendly against the United Arab Emirates on August 30 and two Concacaf Nations League matches against Montserrat on September 7 and El Salvador on September 10.

Deshorn Brown still leads OKC with 9 goals, Omar Gordon picked up his team-leading 7th assist of the season in Portland, and Cody Laurendi extended his USL saves lead to 81.

Andre Lima leads Austin with 9 goals, Sean McFarlane has 4 assists and Diego Restrepo has 7 clean sheets and 68 saves, the second most in the league behind Laurendi.

Saturday’s match kicks off from Taft Stadium at 8 p.m. CDT, and tickets are still available at energyfc.com/august or by calling 235-KICK.
