Kyle Hyland put Energy FC ahead in the first half with his second goal of the season, but Fresno FC came from behind to take all three points at Taft Stadium Saturday night.

The Greens came inches away from taking the lead in the 18th minute when Rafael Garcia’s corner kick found the head of Christian Ibeagha. Unfortunately, the center back’s header just missed wide.

Five minutes later, OKC did take the lead. Alvin Jones found Hyland with a 40-yard diagonal ball, and Hyland outleapt the defender and nodded the ball down into the side netting.

The visitors responded just four minutes later. Jemal Johnson’s corner kick sailed through the box untouched, and the ball found Jaime Chavez who headed it in at the back post.

The first big moment of the second half occurred just prior to an Energy FC free kick, when Zach Ellis-Hayden was called for a foul on Christian Eissele in the Fresno penalty area. The referee booked Ellis-Hayden, but no penalty was awarded due to the foul occurring prior to the free kick.

Ibeagha came close again in the 68th minute off another corner from Garcia, but the ball just skipped off the top of his head and out the other side of the box.

The Foxes found the winner in the 79th minute after a missed clearance fell to Ramon Del Campo at the top of the box. The defender took his chance first time to beat Laurendi low and to the keeper’s right.

The Greens are on the road next Friday, August 16 to take on Portland Timbers 2. Kickoff for that one is set for 9:30 p.m. CDT, and it will be streamed live on ESPN+. The official, all-ages watch party will be at Guyutes on Uptown 23rd.
