Week 20 Recap

Energy FC (11th, 6-7-8, 26 points) weren’t able to take advantage of several good opportunities at the attacking end in Colorado Springs, and consequently, were punished at the other end of the pitch. The 1-0 defeat was just the second time all season the Greens haven’t found the back of the net. They’ll certainly look to bounce back in a big way in Tacoma Saturday night.

Week 21 Preview

The Greens are in the Pacific Northwest to take on the last place Tacoma Defiance (18th, 3-12-5, 14 points). Despite holding down the bottom spot in the conference, Tacoma is coming off a big, 4-1 win at home over Las Vegas Lights FC on Wednesday night. The victory snapped a streak of 14 matches without a win for the Defiance. The flurry of goals also moved them off the bottom of the league’s goalscoring standings, but the Defiance have still conceded the most in all of the USL Championship with 50.

OKC and Tacoma have met once already this season with the Greens winning 2-1 at Taft Stadium on May 4. Deshorn Brown bagged a brace for Energy FC while Azriel Gonzalez scored the lone goal for the Defiance. All time, the sides have met nine times, with the Greens winning four, Tacoma/Seattle Sounders 2 winning three and the teams drawing twice.

Rafael Garcia will be available for selection Saturday after sitting out the last match with a suspension for yellow card accumulation.

Garcia was short and to the point this week when giving his thoughts on what the team needs to do moving forward.

“We need to win. That’s it.”

The Greens will hardly have a better opportunity to pick up points in the next two weeks with 17th place Tulsa Roughnecks up next after Tacoma.

Saturday’s match kicks off from Cheney Field at 9 PM CDT. The official, all-ages watch party location is Guyutes on Uptown 23rd. As always, there will be food and drink specials as well as plenty of giveaways.
