Energy FC midfielder Je-Vaughn Watson (Jamaica), forward Cordell Cato (Trinidad and Tobago), defender Alvin Jones (Trinidad and Tobago) and defender Mekeil Williams (Trinidad and Tobago) have been called up to represent their respective national teams in this summer’s Concacaf Gold Cup. Energy FC have the most call-ups of any team in the USL Championship.

Watson and the Reggae Boyz take on the Honduras in their first match tonight, June 17 at 8:30 p.m. They will then play El Salvador Friday, June 21 at 6 p.m. and round out group play against Curacao Tuesday, June 25 at 7 p.m.

Cato, Jones, Williams and the Soca Warriors will face Panama Tuesday, June 18 at 6:30 p.m., the United States Saturday, June 22 at 7 p.m. and Guyana Wednesday, June 26 at 5:30 p.m.

All matches can be seen live on Fox Sports 1, and the kickoff times are Central.

The 2019 Concacaf Gold Cup will be the 15th edition of the tournament, the biennial men’s football championship of North, Central America and the Caribbean region. The United States are the defending champions, having defeated Jamaica in the 2017 final. That Jamaica side featured Energy FC’s Omar Gordon and Watson in the starting lineup, with the latter scoring in the 2-1 loss to the USMNT. The United States, Costa Rica and Jamaica are all co-hosting the 2019 competition which began on June 15 and ends on July 7.

“I’m really excited for the players,” said Head Coach Steve Cooke. “They dream of not only representing their countries, but to go play in a tournament like the Gold Cup is absolutely fantastic. It’s in an honor for them personally, it’s an honor for their families, and I’m really thrilled for them.”

Energy FC have had eight players earn international call-ups while with the club. In addition to Cato, Jones, Watson and Williams, Josh Garcia (Dominican Republic), Atiba Harris (Saint Kitts & Nevis), Cody Laurendi (Puerto Rico), Jaime Siaj (Jordan) and Coy Craft (U.S. U-20 team) have all received the honor.

Energy FC are at home Saturday to take on the top team in the Western Conference, Phoenix Rising FC. The match will kick off at 8:00 p.m. CDT from Taft Stadium and tickets are available at energyfc.com/june or by calling (405)235-KICK.
