Energy FC and San Antonio FC played to their seventh regular season draw all time, as Rafael Garcia’s goal from the penalty spot was canceled out by Jack Barmby’s free kick in second-half stoppage time.

The visitors could have opened the scoring in the 8th minute if it wasn’t for the quick feet of Cody Laurendi. Barmby’s strike from 20 yards took a deflection on the way to goal, but Laurendi was able to get back across and swat the shot away.

The Greens were awarded a penalty in the 15th minute after Atiba Harris was fouled in the box. Matt Cardone guessed correctly to make the save on Deshorn Brown’s attempt to the lower left corner.

Mike da Fonte got on the end of a corner kick from Jon Brown in the 32nd minute, but his header looped just over the bar.

Laurendi came up big again in first-half stoppage time to get a hand to Ever Guzman’s shot from the top of the penalty area.

OKC was given a second chance to convert from the spot, when Jon Brown was brought down in the box. Garcia stepped up this time and went to the bottom left corner while Cardone dove the wrong way to give the Greens the lead in the 55th minute.

The Greens defended well for the remainder of the half and looked set to leave Taft Stadium with all three points until the 92nd minute. Barmby drove a 30-yard dead ball up and over the wall and into the side netting to salvage a point for the visitors.

The result extends OKC’s league unbeaten run to six matches and moves OKC to 22 points and up to fifth place in the Western Conference standings.

The Greens will finally go without a midweek match for the first time in a month and are at home at Taft Stadium again next Saturday, June 22 to face Phoenix Rising FC at 8:00 p.m. Tickets are available by calling 235-KICK or by visiting energyfc.com/june
