Energy FC midfielder Je-Vaughn Watson (Jamaica), forward Cordell Cato (Trinidad and Tobago), defender Alvin Jones (Trinidad and Tobago) and defender Mekeil Williams (Trinidad and Tobago) have been called up to represent their respective national teams in upcoming international friendlies ahead of this summer’s Concacaf Gold Cup.

Watson and the Reggae Boyz take on the United States Wednesday, June 5 at Audi Field in Washington, D.C. The match will kick off at 6:00 p.m. CDT and will be broadcast on Fox Sports 1.

Jones, Williams and the Soca Warriors will face Japan on Wednesday, June 5 at Toyota Stadium in Aichi, Japan. The match will kick off at 5:30 a.m CDT. Cato will join up with the team for their match against Canada on Monday, June 10 at L.A. Memorial Coliseum in Los Angeles, California.

The 2019 Concacaf Gold Cup will be the 15th edition of the tournament, the biennial men’s football championship of North, Central America and the Caribbean region. The United States are the defending champions, having defeated Jamaica in the 2017 final. That Jamaica side featured Energy FC’s Omar Gordon and Watson in the starting lineup, with the latter scoring in the 2-1 loss to the USMNT. The United States, Costa Rica and Jamaica are all co-hosting the 2019 competition which begins on June 15 and ends on July 7.

“I’m really excited for the players,” said Head Coach Steve Cooke. “They dream of not only representing their countries, but to go play in a tournament like the Gold Cup is absolutely fantastic. It’s in an honor for them personally, it’s an honor for their families, and I’m really thrilled for them.”

Energy FC have had eight players earn international call-ups while with the club. In addition to Cato, Jones, Watson and Williams, Josh Garcia (Dominican Republic), Atiba Harris (Saint Kitts & Nevis), Cody Laurendi (Puerto Rico), Jaime Siaj (Jordan) and Coy Craft (U.S. U-20 team) have all received the honor.

Energy FC are back on the road this week to take on Western Conference leaders New Mexico United Wednesday night in the USL Championship’s Game of the Week. The match will kick off at 8:00 p.m. CDT from Isotopes Park in Albuquerque, New Mexico and will be broadcast on ESPNews. The Greens will then travel to play Fresno FC at Chukchansi Park Saturday, June 8 at 9:30 p.m. CDT. That match will be streamed live on ESPN+.
