Energy FC will travel to face FC Dallas of Major League Soccer in the Fourth Round of the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup on Wednesday, June 12. The match will kick off at 7 p.m. CDT at Southern Methodist University’s Westcott Field in Dallas, Texas and will also be broadcasted live on ESPN+.

Energy FC advanced to the Fourth Round after defeating fellow USL Championship club the Tampa Bay Rowdies in a 4-3 thriller at John Crain Field in Norman, Okla. on Tuesday, May 28. The Greens defeated NTX Rayados in the Second Round, 3-1, on May 14 at the same venue. MLS teams earn automatic entry into the Fourth Round, so this will be FC Dallas’s first match of the competition this year.

Energy FC have met FC Dallas, two-time winners of the U.S. Open Cup, twice at the same stage of the competition. Dallas defeated OKC, 4-1, during the 2015 U.S. Open Cup Fourth Round at Texas Christian University’s Garvey-Rosenthal Soccer Stadium and won 6-5 in a penalty shootout at Southern Methodist University’s Westcott Field during the 2016 edition of the tournament, after playing to a 2-2 draw. FC Dallas then went on to win the U.S. Open Cup that year.

The Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup, recognized as U.S. Soccer's National Championship, is an annual competition open to all amateur and professional soccer teams affiliated with U.S. Soccer. The tournament has crowned a champion for 105 consecutive years dating from 1914. In 1999, the competition was renamed to honor American soccer pioneer Lamar Hunt.

Energy FC have competed in the U.S. Open Cup each year since the club’s inaugural 2014 season. The most notable past appearances include a 1-0 win over Tulsa Roughnecks FC in the 2015 Third Round, a 2-1 win over then-cross-town rivals Rayo OKC in the 2016 Third Round, a narrow defeat in penalty kicks to MLS’s FC Dallas in the 2016 Fourth Round and a 3-2 defeat against MLS’s Colorado Rapids in the 2017 Fourth Round after the Greens took a two-goal lead.

Energy FC return to USL Championship play this weekend, as they host the Los Angeles Galaxy II Saturday, June 1 at 8:00 p.m. CDT at Taft Stadium.
