EL PASO, Texas – El Paso Locomotive FC announced on Tuesday it had acquired defender Drew Beckie from fellow USL Championship side OKC Energy FC, pending league and federation approval. Beckie has competed for Energy FC since June, 2018 and has made more than 20 appearances for the club.

With the move to El Paso, Beckie is reunited with current Locomotive FC Head Coach Mark Lowry, for whom he played previously at Jacksonville Armada FC. Selected in the 2013 Major League Soccer SuperDraft by Columbus Crew SC, Beckie has appeared for the Canada U-23 National Team on four occasions in addition to being called into the full national team camp.

“I honestly couldn’t be happier to be adding a player and person of the caliber of Drew Beckie to our squad,” said Lowry. “Character-wise he is the perfect addition, and he is another tough experienced competitor who knows what it takes to win. He will be a wonderful addition to our defensive unit and gives us fantastic depth.”

In addition to his previous stops at Armada FC and Energy FC, Beckie has also competed for Ottawa Fury FC and North Carolina FC during his professional career. A former League Two standout for Real Colorado Foxes, where he made 21 appearances over two seasons, Beckie competed collegiately for the University of Denver and recorded 69 appearances and seven goals with the Pioneers.
