There wasn't much between the sides in the first half until Reno's leading scorer, Brian Brown, put the hosts ahead in the 29th minute.
Brown was able to dribble freely into the Energy FC defensive third and take a shot from 25 yards that snuck through the legs of Mekeil Williams and into the side netting.
OKC nearly responded five minutes later when Kyle Hyland floated a cross to the back post that found the head of Omar Gordon. Unfortunately, Gordon’s downward header just missed wide at Reno goalkeeper Matt Bersano’s near post.
After the break, Reno doubled the lead in the 51st minute, when Seth Casiple was allowed the space to dribble to the top of the penalty area, where he side-footed past Cody Laurendi.
In looked to be all over just five minutes later, when Sam Gleadle made it a three-goal lead. Corey Hertzog linked up with Brown to find Gleadle with a pass that split the OKC defense in the box. From there, Gleadle did well to control and place his shot past Laurendi.
OKC got back into the game in the 71st minute when Cordell Cato dribbled into the box, laid a pass off for Alexy Bosetti and the Frenchman calmly slotted the ball into the back of the net for his first goal for the club.
Prior to stoppage time, the match might have been out of reach had Laurendi not made a trio of fantastic saves to deny Herzog in the 79th and 81st and Sergio Rivas in the 88th minute.
After not being able to find a second goal for the next 20 minutes, things really changed in second-half stoppage time. In the 92nd minute, Gordon fed Christian Eissele with a reverse pass that Eissele was able to lift over Bersano for his first Energy FC goal.
A minute later, with the last kick of the game, a long ball into the box from Bosetti was chested by Eissele into the path of Gordon who stabbed it home to give OKC a point in the most unlikely of circumstances.
