The Energy FC U23s face FC Miami City on Friday, July 22 at 5 p.m. in the opening round of the PDL playoffs.  Winners of the matches on July 21 play in the Southern Conference Finals at 7 p.m. on July 22. The Southern Conference playoff games will take place in Clinton, Miss., home of Mississippi Brilla FC.

Despite finishing with the best record in the PDL’s Southern Conference at 12-1-1, the U23s take to the road in an effort to advance to the Southern Conference Finals for the second straight season.  Last season, the U23s advanced to the Southern Conference Finals before bowing out to the Midland-Odessa Sockers 0-0 (2-1 on PKs).

The U23s are led by Julio Moncada and goalkeeper Eric Dick.  Moncada, led Energy FC U23s with 11 goals and three assists on the season.  His 11 goals tied him for sixth in the PDL.  The University of North Carolina-Wilmington player also has experience with the Honduran U17 National Team.

Eric Dick played every minute of every match for the U23s and had five clean sheets along the way.  The goalkeeper from the University of Indiana played 1,260 minutes this season, making him one of only three goalkeepers to play every minute of every match for his team.

The winners of the four conference final games will be re-seeded based on total points ahead of the PDL Semifinals on July 29, with total wins and goal differential being the first two tiebreakers.  The PDL Championship match takes place August 5.  Sites for the PDL Semifinals and Finals are determined following completion of the Conference Finals.

The Energy FC 1st team plays at home this weekend at Taft Stadium against the Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC at 7:30 p.m.  Tickets are available by calling 235-KICK or visiting Energyfc.com.
