OFC Alumni added to U23 Roster

The Energy FC U23s added forward Matthew Puig and goalkeeper Cooper Clark, head coach Chris Spendlove and Technical Director Scott Rezendes announced today.  Both players are are alumni of Oklahoma Football Club (OFC).

As a freshman at University of Tulsa, Puig led the team in goals with eight and points with 17.  Prior to attending Tulsa, Puig was a four-year letter winner at Deer Creek High School and led scored 66 goals during that time.  In addition to his success at Deer Creek, he was a member of the OFC ’98 ‘A” that won four consecutive state championships. 

Clark is a commitment of the University of Tulsa and current goalkeeper for Norman High School.  He plays his club soccer with OFC 99 and has helped that club claim titles at the 2016 Disney Games National League Championship, 2015 Southern Regional Premier League Championship as well as four State Cup championships.  He is a member of the Olympic Development Program and was named the OSSAA Defensive Player of the Year as a Junior.  He was selected to the roster after attending Energy FC’s open tryout in January.

Puig and Clark join join midfielders Josh Taylor, Noah Keats and Eric Leonard; forwards Garrett McLaughlin and Ben Conway and goalkeepers Austen Parker and Eric Dick as players currently on the U23 roster for the 2017 season.

The U23s open their season in the 1st round of the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup on Wednesday, May 10 on the road against the Tulsa Athletic at 7:30 p.m.
