Three players score in lopsided OKC win

BRADENTON, Fla. — Three different players score for OKC Energy FC, as the club downed Orlando City B 3-1 Tuesday in the last of its three matches this preseason at the IMG Academy campus.

Coady Andrews netted his first goal of the preseason, while Alejandro Covarrubias and Sam Fink each scored their second.

OKC scored twice off set pieces, with the first coming in the 34th minute as a Luis Martinez corner kick found Andrews in front of the Orlando City B net, where Andrews headed in a shot for the 1-0 lead.

Energy FC extended its lead to 2-0 in the 53rd minute, when Covarrubias gathered the ball near the top of the Orlando box and rolled a shot past diving Orlando City B goalkeeper Mason Stajduhar.

Fink made the game 3-0 three minutes later when he headed a corner kick by Jose Barril past Stajduhar.

In the 82nd minute, Energy FC had a chance to increase its lead when Wojciech Wojcik was hauled down in the Orlando box and awarded a penalty kick, but Wojcik’s shot caromed off the cross bar.

In the final minute of play, Orlando City was awarded a penalty kick of its own, with Michael Cox converting for the score on the final play of the match.

With the win, Energy FC moved to 4-1 in the preseason. The club’s next preseason match is a 3:30 p.m. CST start on Sunday, March 5, in Springfield, Mo. against Saint Louis FC.
