Woj tied for team lead in goals scored during 2016 season

Energy FC signed forward Wojciech Wojcik (VOO-check VOO-cheek), head coach Jimmy Nielsen announced today.  The contract is pending USL and U.S. Soccer Federation approval.

Wojcik, a 6-4, 200-pounder originally from Poland, but raised in the Chicago area, came to Oklahoma City last season on loan from the Indy Eleven (NASL).  Nicknamed “Woj”, he appeared in 23 games and was tied for the team lead with four goals scored.  During the 2015 season, he played in 17 games for Indy Eleven and scored two goals and two assists. He spent his first pro season with Tampereen Ilves in Finland where he scored twice and helped his club to a promotion.

A product of the Chicago Fire Academy, Woj attended Bradley University where he was named Missouri Valley Conference Player of the Year for his efforts during his senior season.

“He was on loan last season from Indy Eleven.  He came to our club and did a hell of a job,” said Nielsen. “He’s strong and a big threat in the 18.  He’s strong and powerful in the air.  For a man of his size, he is also technically sound, particularly with the ball. Woj is a great guy to have around, he’s hungry and very competitive.”

"I'm so excited to be returning and being a part of the 2017 season in OKC," Woj said. "I had a lot of fun playing with the team last year. I can't wait to be back and playing in front of such a strong and committed fan base. I am counting down the days until the start of the season!"

Wojcik joins forwards Miguel Gonzalez, Danni König; midfielders Luis Martinez, Daniel Gonzalez, Alejandro Covarrubias, Alex Dixon, Juan Guzman and Philip Rasmussen; defenders Sam Fink, Kyle Hyland, Richard Dixon, Michael Harris and Coady Andrews and goalkeepers Cody Laurendi, C.J. Cochran and Jacob Lissek as players officially signed for the 2017 season.
