OKLAHOMA CITY – Energy FC signed forward Alex Dixon for the 2017 season, head coach Jimmy Nielsen announced today.  The contract is pending USL and U.S. Soccer Federation approval.

Alex Dixon joins OKC from Jacksonville Armada FC (NASL), where he played 538 minutes in 15 games, recording two goals and an assist.

The Bay City, Texas native grew up playing in the Houston Dymano academy, and played the 2010 season with Reading United (PDL). After three years of playing for the UNC Chapel Hill Tar Heels, the midfielder  went on to sign a professional contract with Houston Dynamo (MLS) in 2011 as a "homegrown player."  Dixon notched 10 goals during his MLS stint, including Reserves games.

“He gives us something different than what we already have. He’s extremely fast, but still fast with quality,” Energy FC Head Coach Jimmy Nielsen said. "We tried to get him before last season, so we’re very excited to bring him on board this year."

“I decided to sign with the Energy after speaking with Jimmy,” said Dixon. “He described what kind of team he was trying to build and he has an attacking philosophy which is right up my alley. I'm looking forward to playing in front of the great fans that the club has and I think with the group the club is putting together we have a good chance of winning a championship which is the ultimate goal.”

After three seasons with the Dynamo, Dixon signed with Rochester Rhinos at the beginning of the 2014 season, then he signed with Jacksonville Armada FC (NASL) in December 2015.

Alex Dixon joins forward Danni Konig and Miguel Gonazlez, midfielders Luis Martinez and Daniel Gonzalez, and defenders Sam Fink, Kyle Hyland and Coady Andrews as players officially signed for the 2017 season.
