Xelaju to play Selección Centro Americana de Oklahoma on August 27

August 27 promises to be soccer-filled day at Taft Stadium as Club Xelaju MC from Guatemala is playing in an exhibition match against Selección Centro Americana de Oklahoma prior to Energy FC’s match against their in-state rival, Tulsa Roughnecks FC.

The special matches begin at 2:30 p.m. with a youth exhibition match between Xelaju Jr.  and Leones Negros.  Following the match between the junior teams, Xelaju MC, takes on Selección Centro Americana de Oklahoma, a select team from the local LASLOI league, in an exhibition match at 3:30 p.m.  The day of soccer concludes with Energy FC’s final match of the regular season against their in-state rival, Tulsa Roughnecks FC at 8 p.m.  A ticket to the Energy FC match allows entry to the exhibition match earlier in the afternoon.  The box office at Taft Stadium opens at 11 a.m.

Club Xelaju MC is among the most historic and successful teams in the first-division league in Guatemala.  Founded in 1928 and nicknamed Superchivos, the club has won five Guatemalan championships, the most for any team not located in the nation’s capital of Guatemala City.  Xelaju MC won the Copa Centario in 1973.
