James Kiffe scored the match's only goal to lift Sacramento Republic FC over OKC Energy FC, 1-0, snapping OKC's unbeaten streak at eight games Tuesday night at Taft Stadium.
In the 83rd minute, Cameron Iwasa chipped a pass from the lower-left corner of the OKC box to Kiffe, who lifted a shot over the outstretched arms of Energy FC keeper Cody Laurendi, giving Republic FC a 1-0 lead it never relinquished.
With just a single shot on goal, Energy FC failed to muster much of an offensive attack, allowing current Sacramento and former OKC goal keeper Evan Newton to record his first win of the 2016 season.
Surrendering just his second goal since July 2, Laurendi made three saves for OKC in the loss.
Energy FC amassed a season-high four yellow cards in the match, two assessed to Kyle Hyland, resulting in a red card.
OKC next takes to the road for a 7:30 p.m. CST start Saturday, August 6, when the club faces Rio Grande Valley FC Toros at Toro Stadium in Edinburg, Texas.
The next home game for Energy FC is Saturday, July 13, when the club faces LA Galaxy II in a rematch of last year's USL Western Conference Final.
