OKC Energy FC and Rio Grande Valley FC Toros played to a 0-0 draw Saturday night at Taft Stadium.
Energy FC's Danni König failed to score on two penalty kicks in the second half of the match. Following a red card foul by Rio Grande Valley's Kevin Garvia on OKC's Sebastian Dalgaard, Toros keeper Callum Irving made a diving stop on König's first penalty kick to keep the match scoreless. A little more than three minutes later, König got another chance from the dot, following a foul by Jorghino James in the Rio Grande Valley box on OKC's Jordan Rideout, but König's shot sailed over the crossbar.
Aside from König's two penalty kicks, Energy FC managed just two shots on goal, with a third by König and another by Rideout.
OKC keeper Cody Laurendi made five saves on the night, including a leaping stop on a hard shot by the Toros' Christian Lucatero from about 15 yards out in second half stoppage time to preserve the draw.
Energy FC next travels to San Antonio, Texas for a 7:30 p.m. start Saturday, July 9, against San Antonio FC at Toyota Field.
