KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Cody Laurendi made a season-high 7 saves and OKC got late goals from FC Dallas loanees Coy Craft and Timo Pitter to blank the Swope Park Rangers 2-0 Tuesday night at Swope Soccer Village.
Donning the captain's band in the absence of Michael Thomas, who was serving a one-game suspension stemming from a red card in Saturday's scoreless draw with San Antonio, Laurendi recorded his third straight and sixth clean sheet of the season.
With the game scoreless in the 59th minute, Swope Park's Alex Molano unleashed a shot from the right side of the OKC box that Laurendi blocked to the center of the OKC six, where the Rangers' Dane Kelly collected the ball and fired a rebound shot. Streaking to return to his position, Laurendi leaping save to deny Kelly the goal and Swope Park a 1-0 lead.
OKC scored the eventual game-winning goal in the 84th minute, when Michael Byskov intercepted a Swope Park pass at midfield and sprinted downfield before dishing to Pitter, who sent a cross through the Swope Park six, where Craft banged home his team-leading third goal of the season past Swope Park keeper Jon Kempin.
Five minute later, Pitter registered his first goal as a member of Energy FC when Luis Martinez played the ball ahead of Swope Park defenders, where Pitter corralled and extended OKC's lead to 2-0. With the assist, Martinez tallied his the first point of his USL career.
With the win, Energy FC registered its third victory over Swope Park in three matches this season, two at Swope Soccer Village. The clubs meet a final time in Oklahoma City on Sept. 18.
Energy FC next travels home, where the club faces Orange County Blues FC in a 7:30 p.m. CST start Saturday, June 16, at Taft Stadium.
