BRADENTON, Fla. — Casey Townsend scored the match’s lone goal to propel OKC Energy FC to a 1-0 win over fellow USL club Orlando City B Sunday at the IMG Academy soccer complex.
In the 8th minute of play, OKC’s Sebastian Dalgaard picked off an Orlando City pass near midfield and found Townsend in the right side of the Orlando box, where Townsend fired a shot that deflected off the leg of a sliding defender and into the upper-right corner of the Orlando City net, past diving keeper Mark Ridgers.
Both Townsend and Dalgaard contributed heavily in OKC’s win, with each player creating multiple scoring chances for Energy FC throughout the match. Each tallied three shots in the game.
OKC goal keeper Cody Laurendi was in net for the entire match, turning away four shots in the Energy FC win.
Energy FC returns to Oklahoma City Monday and begins preparation for Saturday’s match against MLS affiliate FC Dallas in what will be the first match of 2016 at Taft Stadium.
